Swarn Shanta Nidhi Limited is situated over in Malajpur, out in the Betul district. We are operating out of the house belonging to Kanti Lal Yadav, so it has a very personal and local feel to it, unlike those big offices in the city. Malajpur is a small place where news travels fast and everyone knows their neighbors. Being based here means we see the same faces every day and we know exactly who is coming through the door. The office setup is very modest, just some basic furniture in a room that stays relatively cool because of the old construction. We have a view of the local fields and you can often hear the sound of tractors or cows in the distance while we are working on the books. It is a slow-paced environment where we don't feel the need to rush through everything. We spend a lot of time just sitting with people and going over their savings while drinking tea. Sometimes the internet connection is a bit spotty because we are out in the district, but we manage to get everything recorded eventually. It is an honest day's work here in Betul, and we like the fact that we are right in the heart of the community where people live and work. There are no fancy signs or glass walls here, just a door that stays open for the village.
