We are located at 3 Air Force Hospital in the Amla Depot area within the Betul district. It is a bit of a different environment than a regular city hospital because we are tied to the depot and the community that lives and works around it. Life out here in Betul is slower than in the big metros, and the hospital reflects that in some ways. We deal with the usual health issues that come up for families and the staff stationed here. It is a solid, functional building meant for taking care of people when they are sick or hurt. There is no pretense here; it is all about the medical work. We see a lot of the same people because the community is relatively small, so you end up knowing the history of almost everyone who walks through the doors. The grounds around the hospital are usually quiet, which is a nice change from the chaos of a public hospital in a large city. We spend our shifts checking on patients, updating files, and making sure the supplies are stocked. It is basic, essential work that needs to be done right. Being part of the Air Force setting gives everything a bit of structure, but at the end of the day, we are just people helping other people get through their health problems. It is a quiet life in the depot, but it feels like we are doing something that actually matters to the folks living out here.
