Manushree Foods

We started Manushree Foods out here in Lamta, right by the Bakodi post office area. It is a quiet spot, mostly just us and the fields nearby. My cousins and a few neighbors come in early every day to get things moving. We handle a lot of the local food processing, mostly stuff that people around here need for their kitchens. Sometimes the power goes out in the afternoon, so we have to plan our work around that, which is just how it goes in this part of the country. The building isn't fancy, just a sturdy place where we keep the machines running and the floors clean. We spend a lot of time checking the sacks and making sure nothing is sitting around too long. It gets dusty during the dry season, so there is always someone with a broom in their hand. People from the village stop by sometimes just to see what we are up to or to pick up an order they placed earlier in the week. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a machine breaks, we fix it ourselves or wait for the guy from town to come out. It is hard work, standing on your feet all day, but it feels good to see the trucks loaded up and heading out toward the main road. We have been at this for a while now, and the routine hasn't changed much, but that is fine with us. We just keep our heads down and do the job we are supposed to do.
