Kalyani Marketing

Out in Bhakuri-Ii Village, Kalyani Marketing has been operating for a good while. We are located in the Berhampore Tehsil area of Murshidabad District, right near Haridasmati. It’s a rural setting, so things are a lot quieter here than they are in the big towns. We focus on marketing various products that the local community needs for their daily lives. The shop is a simple concrete structure. We don't have any air conditioning, just the breeze coming through the open door and a small ceiling fan that squeaks a bit. My wife helps me with the accounts in the evenings when the kids are doing their schoolwork. We know almost everyone who walks through the door because we’ve lived in this village our whole lives. When the rains come, the ground outside gets quite muddy and we have to put down wooden planks so people can get inside without getting their shoes ruined. It’s not a fancy operation by any means. We don't have a corporate office or anything like that. We just sit on plastic stools and talk to the people who come by. Sometimes the stock takes a long time to arrive from the city, but everyone understands how it goes. We just try to keep the basic items in stock so nobody has to travel too far. It's a slow-paced life, but it suits us well enough here in Murshidabad.
