Heading out toward Magadi Road every day is a long trip, but once you get to Machohalli Gate, things open up a bit more. We are located at number 130, which is a large enough space for the kind of heavy work we do. It’s mostly an open shed with a roof to keep the rain off the equipment. The ground is mostly dirt and gravel, so it gets pretty dusty when the wind picks up or when trucks roll in. We spend the bulk of our time operating the machinery and moving heavy parts around. It’s loud, and you have to shout to be heard over the sound of the engines. We don't have many visitors out here, just the occasional delivery driver or someone picking up a finished order. It’s a tough environment, especially when it’s humid, but we’ve got a good group of people who don't mind getting their hands dirty. We keep a big water cooler in the corner, and that’s the most popular spot in the building. There isn't much in the way of shops nearby, so we all bring our own tiffin for lunch and eat together under the shade of the back wall. The work is steady, and there’s always something that needs fixing or adjusting on the line. By the time we shut everything down, it’s a quiet relief to hear nothing but the wind. The drive back into the city gives us some time to wind down after a long shift before we get home.
