Woodstok

Woodstok sits on a corner in HAL 2nd Stage in Viratnagar. It’s a pretty busy area of Basavappa Layout. We open the doors around mid-morning and usually, the first thing we do is sweep the front step. The street outside is always full of bikes and cars honking. Inside, it’s a bit quieter but not silent. We have a lot of wood around, hence the name, and it takes a lot of dusting to keep it looking okay. The staff mostly lives nearby, so we all walk or take the bus to get here. We spend a lot of time checking the kitchen supplies and making sure the fridge is cold enough. It’s a lot of physical work that people don't see. We don't spend money on big signs or anything. We just put the menu out and wait for people to come in. Sometimes we have a slow afternoon where we just sit and talk for a bit until the dinner rush starts. By eight at night, the place is usually full and it stays that way until we close up. We’ve got some regular customers who have their favorite seats near the window.
