Vishishta Architects

Our office is on the 4th floor of No 49 on South End Road in Basavanagudi. One of the best things about being here is that we are right above the Udupi Grand Hotel. The smell of fresh vadas and filter coffee is always in the air, which is both a blessing and a distraction. It’s an old-school part of Bangalore, and we love the big trees and the traditional feel of the streets. Being on the 4th floor means we get a bit of a view, though there’s no lift, so we all get a bit of a workout every day. We do architecture work, so our space is naturally filled with rolls of blueprints, yellow tracing paper, and different types of pens. It’s a bit cramped because we have a lot of samples and models lying around, but it feels like a creative mess. We don't have any corporate polish here at Vishishta Architects. We just sit at our tables and work on our designs. Sometimes we argue about the best way to fix a layout, but it’s all part of the job. Basavanagudi is a great place to be based because everything feels very grounded. We don't use fancy jargon when we talk to people; we just explain things as they are. It’s a small, hard-working team in a very classic neighborhood.
