If you find yourself on Subedar Chatram Road in Gandhinagar, you might stumble upon us over on Cheluvappa Street. It’s a very old part of the city and the lanes are quite narrow, which makes things interesting when we have goods coming in. We’ve been operating Vijaya Trading Co from this spot for quite some time now. Most of our day is spent dealing with boxes and talking to the transporters who navigate the busy Gandhinagar traffic. It’s not a quiet place by any means; you can always hear the shops nearby and the people walking past. We keep things pretty simple in the shop, with just enough room for the stock and a small area where we sit. The building itself is older, which gives it a certain character that you don’t find in the newer parts of town. We open up early because that’s when the market is most active. Sometimes we have tea with the neighbors while we wait for a delivery. There is a lot of history on these streets, and we feel like a small part of it. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that. It is just us doing the work, checking the lists, and making sure the trading goes smoothly. The rainy season can be a bit of a challenge with the drainage on Cheluvappa Street, but we’ve learned how to handle it over the years. It is a humble place, but it keeps us very busy every single day.
