Peenya Industrial Area is loud. There is no other way to put it. At 81-82, 7th Main, we are right in the thick of the IIIrd Phase. Vbl Innovations Limited is surrounded by workshops and trucks. The noise of metal hitting metal and the hum of big generators is the background music of our lives. We’ve got a lot of space here, but it fills up fast with parts and equipment. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when it’s hot outside. Most of the staff comes in early to beat the Peenya traffic, which is legendary for being bad. We drink a lot of coffee from the nearby canteen. The office part is just a small corner partitioned off with some glass that vibrates when the heavy trucks go by. It’s a practical place. We don’t have paintings on the walls or soft carpets. It’s all about getting things out and making sure the machines are running right. You get grease on your hands pretty much five minutes after walking in. It’s busy, it’s dirty, and it’s how we spend our ten hours a day. By the time we lock up, the whole industrial estate is finally starting to quiet down, and the walk to the bus stop is the only quiet time we get. Sometimes we stay late when a machine breaks down, just trying to get it sorted before the next morning shift starts up.
