Urban Solace

Urban Solace is tucked away on Halasuru Ring Raod 32. If you know the Ring Road area, you know it's always packed with cars and bikes zooming past. Inside, it’s a bit different. We try to keep it steady. The walls are painted a color we liked back when we started, though it’s fading a bit now in the corners. We have a few windows that look out onto the road, so you can watch the traffic while you sit and eat. It’s a bit of a contrast to the noise outside. We’ve been here long enough that the staff knows where everything is without even looking. We don’t go for anything too polished or upscale. There’s a leaky tap in the back we’ve been meaning to fix for weeks now. The floor is made of old tile that we scrub every night. We put out some plants near the door, but the dust from the road makes them hard to keep green for long. Every morning we wipe down the counters and set up the chairs for the first customers. It’s a routine we’ve got down. People come in from the heat and sit for a while to cool off. Some stay for hours, others just grab a quick bite and leave. We don’t mind either way. It’s just a place to be. We handle the groceries ourselves, usually picking things up early before the traffic gets bad. It’s a lot of lifting and carrying. We like the spot because it’s easy for people to find.
