Unilever, Dubai

So, we are listed as Unilever Dubai but we are actually working out of Bangalore. It sounds a bit confusing, but that is just how the structure is set up for us. Bangalore is a massive hub, and we are right in the thick of it. The office here is pretty busy most of the time. We have people coming in from all over the city, and the traffic is as bad as everyone says it is. We spend a lot of our time on calls or staring at spreadsheets. It’s a big name, but inside the office, we are just a group of people trying to manage the workload. We have a cafeteria where most of us hang out during lunch, and that’s where the real talk happens. It’s not all formal meetings and presentations. A lot of the work gets sorted out over a quick coffee. The building is modern enough, but it has that lived-in feel with personal photos on desks and half-empty water bottles everywhere. We deal with a lot of different departments, so there is always someone new to meet. Even though we are part of a global thing, our daily life is very local. We worry about the rains, the commute, and where to get the best snacks nearby. We don't use a lot of big words to describe what we do. We just come in, do the hours, and head home.
