The Paramount Restaurant

The Paramount Restaurant is located at number 29 in Whitefield. Whitefield is a place that feels like it’s always under construction, so there’s usually a bit of dust in the air. We’ve been at this spot for a while, and the building has its own personality. The ceiling is a bit high, which makes it hard to change the lightbulbs when they go out. We have to use a really tall ladder that wobbles. The kitchen is the heart of the place, and it stays loud with the sound of clinking pans and water running. We don't have a corporate office or anything like that; we just sit at one of the back tables to do the paperwork after we close. The menu is printed on simple paper because we change things based on what we can get at the market. Some of the chairs have been repaired with different colored wood, which gives the room a bit of a mismatched look. We get a mix of office workers during the day and families in the evening. The sink in the washroom has a drip we can’t seem to stop, no matter how many times we call the plumber. It’s just part of the place now. We focus on getting the food out on time and making sure the floor is clean. It’s a lot of hard work and long hours, but we just keep showing up every morning.
