The Dharamsi Morarji Chemical Co. Ltd.

Our office is right on Mahatma Gandhi Road. It is a very long name for a company, The Dharamsi Morarji Chemical Co. Ltd., but we just call it the office. This part of the city is always moving. You can hear the traffic from the street all day long. Inside, it feels a bit like stepping back in time. We have high ceilings and a lot of old wooden cupboards filled with files that have been here for decades. There is a lot of history in these walls even if the paint is peeling a little in the corners. We do a lot of paperwork here. It’s not all exciting chemicals and science like people might think from the name. A lot of it is just checking numbers and making sure the records are right. The desks are large and heavy. We have a small area where we keep the water cooler and it’s the main spot for catching up on news. Everyone knows everyone else's business because it's a small team in this branch. The windows are big but we keep the curtains drawn mostly to keep the sun out. It gets really bright in the afternoons. Working on MG Road means we are close to everything, which is helpful. We don't really have a big sign outside so you have to look for the number on the gate. It's a steady place to work.
