Tharagupet is one of those places that stays packed from early morning until late at night, and we’re right in the middle of it at number 73 on the third main road. If you know this part of town, you know it’s all about the trade and the movement of goods. We deal with seeds, so our space is often filled with bags stacked up against the walls. There is a specific smell to the place, a mix of earth and dried grain, which you get used to after a few days. The building itself is older, but it serves us well enough for storing what we need and talking to the people who come in. We don't have a fancy showroom. It’s mostly just us at the desks and the heavy bags waiting to be moved out. The street outside is always narrow and crowded with carts and bikes, so getting things in and out takes some patience. We usually start quite early to beat the worst of the heat and the crowds. Most of our day is spent checking the stock and making sure the labels are right. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and moving things around the floor. We’ve got a small fan that helps a bit, but mostly it’s just the natural rhythm of the market that keeps us going through the week. It gets dusty, but that is part of the job.
