Thamasa Institute

Our place, Thamasa Institute, is over in Basavanagudi. We are located at No. 476 in Gururaja Layout, which is just behind Vidyapetta Circle. It’s a bit of a quiet corner compared to the main roads, which we like. The building is a regular house that we’ve converted for our classes. It’s got a bit of an old-school feel to it, which fits the neighborhood. We’ve been here for some time now, helping out students with their various subjects. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just a few local teachers who know the curriculum well. We usually have classes in the evenings when school lets out. The rooms are simple, just chairs and a place to write. Sometimes we have tea together during the breaks. It’s a very informal atmosphere. We don’t use any special technology, just books and talk. Most of the kids who come here live within walking distance. People in Gururaja Layout know us as the place behind the circle. We don’t really advertise much; word of mouth is how most people find out about us. It’s a steady job and we enjoy the work. We aren’t trying to change the world, just trying to make sure the students in Basavanagudi pass their exams and understand their work. If you’re near Vidyapetta, you can just walk around the back and find us easily without much trouble.
