Tammana Impex

Tammana Impex is down in the lower ground floor of K-81 B in Kalkaji. Being in a basement means we don't see much of the sun during the day, but it stays relatively cool when the Delhi heat gets bad outside. Kalkaji is a crowded neighborhood and finding K-81 B can be tricky because all the buildings look similar. We have a small sign, but it's easy to miss if you aren't looking for it. Inside, it's mostly boxes. We import and export various things and the inventory takes up most of the room. We have to shuffle things around just to get to the back of the office sometimes. The walls are a bit damp in the corners during the monsoon, but we've gotten used to it over the years. We spend a lot of time on the phone with customs people or delivery drivers who are lost in the Kalkaji traffic. It's not a glamorous job. We sit at some old metal desks and use computers that have seen better days. There's usually a stack of invoices that needs sorting. We don't really have a place for guests to sit, so people usually just stand around the doorway while we chat. We handle the daily tasks as they come and don't worry too much about the mess. It's just how the import business works in a small space like this. The neighbors are mostly quiet, which is nice for getting work done.
