Swastik Jewellers & Bankers

Sanjay Nagar is a decent place to be, and Swastik Jewellers & Bankers is right on the Main Road, near the corner of Raopura Road No.1/4. We are in the Ashwath Nagar area, so we see a lot of people from the nearby houses coming in. Having the "Bankers" part in our name means we deal with a lot of paperwork and people looking for loans against their gold. It’s a lot of responsibility, so I spend a lot of time double-checking the scales and the ledgers. The shop isn't very big, and the chairs we have for visitors are those old plastic ones that aren't the most comfortable. I’ve been thinking about getting new ones for years. The ceiling fan hums quite loudly, and sometimes it’s hard to hear people if they speak softly. We have a heavy iron safe in the back that takes two people to lock properly. Most of my day is spent behind the glass counter, either looking at items or writing in the accounts book. The street outside is always full of scooters and people going to the market. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit in the dark for a bit until the backup kicks in. It’s just a regular local business, nothing too complicated about how we run things here. It gets tiring sometimes, but we’ve been here long enough that it feels like home.
