Our place, Surya Chemicals And Minerals, is located at 61/33 in Sita Ram Mohal. It is a bit of a traditional area, and we’ve been part of the neighborhood for quite some time. We handle different kinds of chemicals and minerals, which usually come in big bags or containers. The air sometimes has that distinct smell of minerals, which we don't even notice anymore, but visitors do. Our work involves a lot of moving these bags around and making sure they are stored in the right spots so they stay dry. It’s not a fancy setup. We have a simple desk where we do the ledger work and take phone calls. Most of the space is just storage. We get deliveries at odd hours sometimes, so someone is usually around to help the drivers. The street outside can get pretty narrow, so it takes some skill for the bigger trucks to get in and out. We know most of the people who live and work around here. It’s a close-knit spot. We don't spend money on big advertisements; we just rely on the fact that we’ve been here and people know what we supply. It’s honest work, even if it gets a bit messy with the powders and the dust from the minerals. We just keep the inventory moving and the books balanced as best as we can. Every day is pretty much the same routine.
