Surendra Kumar & Co.

Our office is on the 1st Floor of the Khandelwal School Building. It is right on Station Road, exactly opposite the Zanana Hospital. It is a very busy area with people always coming and going. You can hear the trains from the station if the wind is right. Surendra Kumar & Co. has been in this building for a long time. The stairs up to the first floor are a bit narrow and dark. Once you get inside, it’s brighter. We have big desks covered in ledgers and various papers. It is a traditional kind of office. We don't have any of that modern open-plan stuff. There are partitions between some of the desks. The school downstairs can be noisy during the break times. You hear the kids playing and the bells ringing. It’s a bit of a distraction but we don’t mind it much. We have a view of the hospital entrance from our main window. Sometimes it’s a bit sad to see, but it’s just part of the scenery here. We spend a lot of time on the phone or working through documents. The furniture is all heavy wood and looks like it has been here since the start. We keep a stash of biscuits in the drawer for when the afternoon slump hits. It is a practical place to work. Nothing fancy, just a solid office in a very busy part of the city. We have been here so long we know everyone on the street.
