Standard Motors

Standard Motors has been sitting here on H Siddaiah Road at number 20 for quite some time. This area is known for vehicle stuff, so we fit right in. It’s a bit of a crowded street, but we manage. We handle mechanical things, mostly engines and parts that need replacing after they’ve seen too many miles. The floor usually has some oil spots on it, no matter how much we sweep. It’s just the nature of the work. We have a few guys who have been turning wrenches since they were kids. It isn't a high-tech facility with shiny floors, but we have the tools that matter. Most of the time, we’re just under a car or talking to someone about a noise their engine is making. We don't spend money on fancy signs or anything. People know where we are. It gets hot in the afternoons, so we usually have the big fans going. We try to finish what we start by the end of the day, but sometimes a part takes longer to arrive. That’s just part of the business. We like the crowd around here and the other shop owners are good people. We keep the doors open early and stay until the work is done. It’s a straightforward life and we’re happy with it. We’ve got an old calendar on the wall from three years ago that no one ever bothered to take down. It’s mostly just for the pictures.
