Malleshwaram 11th Cross is usually busy, and our spot here at Vyalikaval has been through some changes, like the house number shifting from the old 142/1 to the new 38. Srikanth S Kanamadi Architect is basically just a place where we sit down with rolls of tracing paper and pencils to figure out how to put buildings together. It gets a bit dusty with the windows open, but that is how it goes when you are right in the middle of things. Most days are spent looking at local sites or trying to get the dimensions right on a drawing that’s been sitting on the desk for too long. We have been in this part of town for a while now. Neighbors know us as the people always carrying measuring tapes and rolls of blueprints. It is not a very fancy office, just some desks, chairs, and a lot of sketches pinned to the walls. People stop by to talk about adding a room or fixing up an old house, and we just listen and try to sketch out what they are saying. The traffic on the cross can be loud, but inside we are usually focused on the small details of a floor plan. It is honest work, mostly just trying to make sure walls go where they should and that there is enough light in the rooms we draw up. We have seen the area change a lot, but our little corner remains the same.
