Sri Ram Hardwares is right there in Kumbarpet at number 162. If you know the area, you know it's always crowded with people and carts moving things. Our shop is full of all sorts of metal bits, tools, and hardware supplies. It’s a bit of a squeeze sometimes because we try to keep a lot of stock on the shelves. You’ll find bolts, hinges, hammers, and plumbing parts if you look around. We don't have a fancy display system. Most things are just in bins or stacked against the wall. We know where everything is, even if it looks a bit messy to someone walking in for the first time. We've been in Kumbarpet for quite a while. We see the same faces every week, mostly local contractors or people trying to fix something at home. We just sell the parts. If someone asks for a specific size of screw, we go find it. We don't do big speeches or try to upsell anything. It’s just hardware. The air usually smells like oil and metal. We open early when the market starts waking up and stay until the shutters go down in the evening. It’s a basic business. We handle the cash, write out the receipts by hand, and move on to the next person in line. It keeps us on our feet and we like it that way even on the hot days.
