Sri Lakshmi Tyres

You can find us over at 14/1 on Jaya Chamarajendra Road, specifically in Phase 2. Sri Lakshmi Tyres is where we spend most of our waking hours. It’s a busy spot because the road stays crowded almost all day long. We have tires stacked up in the corners and there is always that smell of rubber in the air, which I’ve grown to like over the years. We handle all sorts of wheels for different cars and vehicles that pass through. Sometimes the floor gets a bit greasy, so we try to sweep it when there’s a break in the work. It’s just a straightforward shop. We don’t have a waiting room with a TV or anything like that. People usually just stand around and watch us work or go grab a coffee nearby while they wait. My brother and I run the place mostly, with a little help during the monsoon season when everyone realizes their treads are worn down. We see a lot of different people every day. Some are in a hurry and some like to talk about their cars. We just focus on the task at hand. It’s physical work and your hands stay dirty until you go home, but it’s a good way to make a living. We’ve been at this location for a long time and know the rhythm of the street pretty well now. We’re usually here until late evening finishing up our last few jobs before locking the gates for the night.
