Sri Lakshmi Machine Works

Sri Lakshmi Machine Works has its home in Rajajinagar, specifically at 12/51/08. It’s a neighborhood where you see a lot of these kinds of workshops, so we fit right in with the noise and the metalwork. Our shop is filled with various lathes and drilling machines that have been with us for quite some time. They aren’t the newest models you can buy, but we know how to maintain them and keep them working accurately. Most of our day is spent at the workbench, measuring things out and cutting metal to size. It gets pretty loud when all the machines are running at once, so we mostly communicate with nods and hand signals while we work. There is always a layer of fine metal shavings on the floor, no matter how much we sweep. We handle all sorts of repair jobs and custom parts for people in the area. It’s a small operation, just a handful of us who have been doing this for years. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to sit and wait, which is just part of living in this part of town. We don't have a website or any fancy brochures, just our tools and the work we do. It’s a simple life, focused on getting the dimensions right and making sure the parts fit together. We open early and usually close up once the sun goes down. There’s always another piece of iron waiting to be shaped.
