Sri Kasturi Timber & Plywoods

At Sri Kasturi Timber & Plywoods, the air usually smells like fresh cut wood and sawdust. We are located at 310-A on M.T.H Road in Villiakkam. If you have ever driven down M.T.H Road, you know how busy it gets with all the trucks and cars. Our yard is filled with different types of plywood and timber stacks. It is a very hands-on kind of job. We spend our days moving heavy boards around and measuring wood for customers who are usually in the middle of building something or fixing up their homes. Our clothes usually end up covered in dust by the end of the shift. It’s not a fancy place by any means. It’s a working timber yard where function comes before anything else. We have a small desk where we handle the billing and talk to the carpenters who come in. Sometimes we get a big order that takes all day to load, and other times it’s just someone looking for a single sheet of plywood for a DIY project. We treat everyone the same. We have been in Villiakkam for a while, and we know the local regulars quite well. The rain can sometimes be a problem for us since we have to make sure all the timber stays dry under the sheds. It’s a lot of physical labor, but there is something satisfying about working with wood every day and seeing the stacks go out to new construction sites around the city.
