We’ve been running this shop on Infantry Road for quite some time now. It’s right there at No. 119/1 and 2 in Shivaji Nagar. If you walk in, you’ll mostly see stacks of plywood leaning against every wall. There is always a bit of sawdust on the floor no matter how many times we sweep it up. It’s just how it is when you deal with wood all day long. My brother and I manage things here, mostly taking orders from local carpenters who know exactly what they need for their projects. Sometimes people come in looking for a specific thickness or a certain type of board, and we have to move three or four heavy piles just to get to the right one at the bottom. The traffic outside on the road is always loud, but inside it’s just the sound of boards being moved or the delivery truck backing up. We don’t have fancy displays or anything like that. It’s a practical space where we keep our stock and handle the billing. Sometimes the rain makes things a bit slow, especially when we are trying to load the trucks, but usually, there’s someone coming in asking about prices or checking if their delivery is ready. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the right pieces get loaded onto the autos. It’s a basic business, nothing too complicated, just wood and the daily work that goes into keeping the shop open for our customers.
