Space Matrix Design

Our office is right on St. Marks Road, at No. 1. It’s a well-known spot, and we’ve been tucked away here for a while. Mostly, we just focus on how interiors and spaces come together. It isn’t always glamorous; there’s a lot of sitting around and moving things an inch to the left or right on a drawing. We deal with a lot of different projects, some small and some that take up the whole table. The team is usually busy with blueprints or talking to contractors on the phone. It gets loud sometimes, but that’s just how it is when you’re trying to get things finished. We don’t have a big corporate lobby or anything like that. It’s a working space. St. Marks Road has its own energy, and we just kind of fit into the middle of it. Sometimes people drop by to ask about a renovation or just to see what we do. We explain what we can and then get back to the drafting boards. It’s a lot of back and forth, making sure the lighting is okay or the materials make sense. We don’t use a lot of fancy words to describe what we do. We just design spaces. It’s straightforward work that requires a lot of patience. We’ve been at it long enough to know that things don’t always go according to the first plan, so we adjust.
