If you find yourself on S.V.P. Road, look for Rajbhavan. We are on the first floor in rooms 1 and 2. Skm Bearings has been here for years. The building is one of those older ones where the stairs are a bit narrow, but it has character. Our rooms are filled with boxes of bearings from the floor to the ceiling. It is not the biggest office, but it works for what we do. Usually, the noise from the street below is quite loud, with horns and people shouting, but after a while, you stop noticing it. I spend most of my time at a wooden desk that has seen better days, going through invoices and taking calls. We don't have a lot of space for visitors to sit, but we always find a stool if someone drops by for a chat. It is a bit of a maze inside with all the shelves, and sometimes I have to use a flashlight to find a specific part number in the back corner. We keep things simple. There are no big meetings or corporate talk. We just focus on getting the right bearings to the people who need them. Often, we have lunch right there at the desk while the ceiling fan hums overhead. It is a busy, slightly cramped life, but it is how we have always done things here in the heart of the city.
