Site Engineer/ Q.S

I work as a site engineer and also handle the quantity surveying. My name is Desai, and I’m the son of R.B. Desai. We live right behind Nandi School on 1st Main, 1st Cross in the Cantonment area of Bellary. I’ve been in this town my whole life. My work is mostly about measuring materials and making sure the costs don't go over. You have to be very careful with the quantities of cement and steel. I spend half my time at the construction sites and the other half doing paperwork at home. Bellary gets very hot, so I’m usually out on the site early in the morning. I’m not interested in fancy talk or marketing. I just like to make sure the building is being put together correctly. The area around Nandi School is quiet, which helps when I have to do a lot of calculations. My family is quite well known in this part of the Cantonment. I’ve seen many new houses and shops go up around here over the years. Some days it’s just me and my measuring tape for hours on end. I also have to talk to the contractors and make sure they aren't overcharging us. It’s a bit of a grind, but it’s what I know. I don't use much fancy technology, just a good calculator and my notes. It’s a normal job and I just try to do it well.
