We operate out of a few spots, but our main activity happens around New Guddadahalli and the Church Street area off Mahatma Gandhi Road. Dealing with granite is heavy work. Most of our days are spent moving large slabs of stone and making sure they are cut correctly. It is a messy business with a lot of water and stone dust everywhere. Our yard at 809/84 in New Guddadahalli is where most of the heavy lifting happens. It isn't a place for nice clothes. We wear boots and heavy gear because that’s what the job requires. We have different types of stone sitting around in big piles. People come by to look at the patterns and see what will work for their projects. We don't have a big sales pitch. We just show them what is in the yard and tell them how much it weighs. It takes a lot of physical effort to keep things organized, and sometimes the weather makes it even harder. We’ve been at this for a while now, and we’ve learned that the stone doesn’t move unless you make it move. It is honest, tiring work that leaves you ready for a break at the end of the shift. We aren't trying to be fancy; we just handle the stone and get it to where it needs to go for the local builders. It is a long process from the quarry to the final piece, but we stay busy with it every single day.
