Our place, Sri Rajalakshmi Commercial Kitchen Equipment Private Limited, is located at No. 57-30/1, right near the Kotak Mahindra Bank. It’s a spot where there is always something being welded or hammered. We make the big stoves, sinks, and tables that restaurants use. It is a very loud environment and there is always the smell of hot metal in the air. We don’t have a fancy front for the business. It’s mostly just the workshop where the real work happens. You’ll find pieces of stainless steel leaning against the walls and tools scattered across the benches. We spend our days measuring out sheets of metal and making sure the burners are fitted right. It’s tough on the hands and we go home pretty tired every night. Being near the bank is helpful for people to find us, but we are definitely the nosiest neighbor on the block. We have a small crew of workers who have been doing this for a long time. They know how to bend the metal just right for the big kitchen setups. We don't spend money on big signs or anything. People just see the equipment sitting out front and know what we do. It’s a practical business for people who need heavy-duty stuff for their kitchens. We just keep our heads down and finish the work that’s in front of us.
