Shukla Commercials Pvt. Ltd. is situated at 44 Sagar Dutta Ghat Road. The location is quite specific, being so close to the ghat and the river. You can often feel a bit of a breeze coming off the water, which is nice during the humid months. The road itself can be a bit rough, with trucks and vans moving back and forth all day long. Our building is a sturdy, older structure that has survived many monsoons. We have a fair amount of space, but it’s mostly filled with goods and supplies. Our office area is just a corner where we’ve set up some desks and a couple of filing cabinets. We don’t have any modern art on the walls or designer lighting. It’s just fluorescent tubes and plain white walls that have turned a bit grey over time. We start our day early, usually around the time the first boats are moving on the river. The team here is small and we’ve all worked together for a long time, so we don't need to explain things much to each other. We just get on with the paperwork and the logistics. There’s a small tea stall a short walk away where we get our morning chai. It’s a very routine-heavy life, but it suits us. We aren't trying to impress anyone; we're just here to handle the commercial side of things as best as we can.
