If you head down to Lalbagh West in the Umarwada area, you will find us at number 18 1. We go by the name Shri Tirumala Tubes And Tyres. It is a lot of heavy lifting here, moving big tyres around and checking the tubes for any small leaks. The shop is usually filled with the smell of new rubber, which stays on your clothes all day. It is a tough job on the hands, but we have been doing it so long we do not mind much. Umarwada is a place where people are always on the move, so we see a lot of different vehicles passing by our front door. We have been at this address for a long time, and most of the neighbors know us by our names now. We are not trying to be the biggest or flashiest shop in town; we just want to get through the work that comes in. Some days are quiet and we just sit outside on our stools, but then three big trucks might show up at once and we get busy. It gets pretty messy sometimes with all the grease and dirt coming off the wheels. We keep a big stack of tubes ready in the back corner just in case. The building is not anything special to look at, just a regular shop floor with high ceilings. We work hard from the morning until the sun goes down. People stop by to ask for directions or just to chat.
