Shri Shankeshwar Hardware

Shri Shankeshwar Hardware is right on Killari Road in Chickpet, just across from C B Bhandari College. It is a very busy street, especially when the college students are out and about. Our shop at number 34 is packed from floor to ceiling with all sorts of hardware items. We have got tools, nails, hinges, and things I sometimes forget we even have until someone asks for them. The place smells like metal and old wood. It is a bit cramped inside because we try to fit as much stock as possible into the space. Most days, we are busy helping people find exactly the right screw or a specific tool they need for a home project. We do not have a computer system to track everything; we mostly just know where things are by memory. It has been that way for a long time. The floor is concrete and shows the wear of many years of feet walking over it. We do not do much in the way of decoration. The products on the shelves are the decoration. Sometimes it gets a bit dusty, but that is just how a hardware store is. We open up early and stay open until the sun goes down. It is a lot of standing around and talking to neighbors. We like being part of the Chickpet area. It feels like home to us.
