Shree Silks

Shree Silks is located at number 28, in Room No. 2 on the first floor. We are right in the middle of Siddana Lane in Cubbon Pet. If you’ve never been to Cubbon Pet, the lanes are quite narrow and can be a bit confusing for someone visiting for the first time. Our room isn't very big, but it is packed with rolls of fabric and various items we deal with. Being on the first floor means we are a little bit away from the dust of the street, but you can still hear the motorbikes and the people talking down below. It’s a very traditional area for textiles, so we feel right at home here. The light in the room isn't the brightest, but we know where everything is kept. We’ve spent years in this spot. Most of our days are spent folding, checking, and talking to people who drop in. It is a very hands-on kind of place. There is always a bit of a mess with threads and scraps on the floor, but that’s just how it goes when you’re working with silk and cloth all day. We don’t have a big sign or a fancy storefront. People usually find us because they know the lane or someone told them where Room No. 2 is. It’s a quiet, steady way of doing things and we wouldn't have it any other way in this part of town.
