Shoba Nursery

We spend most of our time out here in the dirt at Hebbal Maruthi Layout. The nursery is pretty easy to find since we are right near the Balaji Kalyana Mantapa at number 32. Most mornings start early, usually around sunrise, when the air is still a bit cool. We get the watering done before the sun gets too hot and the plants start to droop. There is always a lot to do, like repotting saplings or checking on the flower beds for pests. People from the neighborhood stop by looking for something for their balcony or a small patch of garden. Sometimes they just want to know why their hibiscus isn't flowering like it should. It gets busy on weekends when families have more time to walk around the rows of pots. We keep a variety of things here, from small indoor greens to bigger fruit trees. It is not a fancy place. We have dirt under our fingernails and the hoses are always getting tangled in the walkways. The shade under the green nets makes it bearable even in April. Sometimes we get a lot of rain and have to move everything around so things do not get flooded in the low spots. It is just a regular spot where plants grow and we try to keep them healthy. Some days are slow, just listening to the traffic from the main road while we prune the hedges. We have been here for a while now, just doing the same work every day.
