Shapoorji Pallonji & Co Ltd

We are based at Vallur Camp, specifically in the Type-R area, building 4/8. It’s a bit of a residential camp setup for Shapoorji Pallonji & Co Ltd workers. We’ve been here for the duration of the current project work. Living and working in the same area means we’re always around the job, day and night. It’s a simple life. We have our quarters and our office space right there. It makes things easier in some ways because there’s no long commute to deal with. You just wake up and you’re pretty much at work already. We eat together most of the time in the mess. The atmosphere is like a big family, for better or worse. We have our disagreements about things, but we get past them because we have to work together every single day. The camp is basic but it has what we need. It’s mostly engineers and supervisors staying in this section. We don't have fancy entertainment, just a TV in the common room and each other’s company. We talk about work even when we’re off duty sometimes. It’s hard to switch off when the construction site is right outside your window. We’ve been through all kinds of weather here. The camp gets a bit muddy when it rains, but we manage. We just keep focused on the project milestones and getting the job done. It’s a temporary kind of life but we make the most of it.
