Shafey Krafts & Designs

If you head down to Balepet and find Kilari Road, you’ll find us at number 87. It’s a busy part of the city, always noisy with people moving around and carts being pushed through the streets. We’ve been in this spot for a long time. Our space at Shafey Krafts & Designs is filled with scraps of material, tools, and half-finished designs. It’s definitely not one of those clean, white-walled offices you see in movies. There’s usually some dust on the floor and the smell of whatever we are working on that day. We spend most of our hours just making things. Sometimes a design works out perfectly on the first try, but more often than not, we have to start over because something didn't look right. We don't mind that part of the job. It’s just how it works when you’re building stuff by hand. We aren't a huge team. It’s just a couple of us who know how to handle the equipment. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. If you come by, you’ll probably find us with our sleeves rolled up, busy with a project. We take things as they come. Some weeks are packed with work and we stay late into the night, and other weeks we have time to clean up the workbench and organize our supplies. We like the pace of Balepet. It keeps us on our toes and reminds us why we started doing this.
