Senior Cadd Associate

I work out of Old Mangamanapalya in Bangalore. My spot is near Good Will Fabrics, at house 20/4. I spend most of my time on the computer doing CAD drawings for various projects. It is basically making technical plans for buildings or mechanical parts. Ramakrishna Reddy is who I share the space with. It is a bit of a crowded area with all the traffic and the factories nearby. I sit at my desk and look at lines and angles all day. People bring me their rough sketches on napkins or scrap paper, and I turn them into something a machine or a builder can actually use. I have been in Bangalore for a long time, watching it grow into a huge city. The software is tricky sometimes, but I have figured it out over the years. I do not have a big corporate sign outside. Most people find me through word of mouth or by just looking for the fabric place. It is a quiet job even though the street outside is always noisy. I try to make sure the measurements are exactly right because a small mistake on the screen causes a big problem on the site later. I am not some big design firm with lots of junior staff. I am just an associate who knows how to use the computer tools. Sometimes the power goes out, and I have to wait to finish my work. It is just how it is here. I keep my head down and draw for my clients.
