You can find us at 270/2 on Bommanahalli Vasanji Lalji Road. It is a busy stretch of road and the noise of the trucks never really stops. We spend most of our mornings opening up the shop and getting the tools ready for whatever comes our way. The air inside stays a bit cooler than the street, which is a relief during the summer months. There is always something that needs fixing or checking. Our workbenches are covered in small parts and bits of metal that we’ve collected over the weeks. It’s hard to keep things tidy when you’re constantly in the middle of a project. We usually have the radio playing softly in the background to drown out the sound of the horns outside. Sometimes neighbors drop by just to say hello or ask a quick question about their own gear. We don’t mind the interruptions much as it breaks up the day. Lunch is usually something quick brought from home or picked up from the corner shop. By late afternoon, the light starts to fade and we turn on the overhead bulbs to keep going. Vasanji Lalji Road gets even busier when people are heading home from work. We usually stay until the last task is finished, then lock up the heavy shutters. It’s a long day, but it feels good to stay busy.
