Sciendix

We work out of Dhamodar Bhavan in Mukkuttukal, right near the Manjalumoodu post office. It is a quiet corner of the Kanyakumari district. Sciendix is a small name for what we do here, which is basically a mix of different projects. The building is a regular house that we have converted into a workspace. It feels very personal because it is part of the neighborhood. We have a few computers set up in the main room and a lot of cables running across the floor. Sometimes the internet is a bit slow because of the location, but we manage to get things done. You can see the trees outside the window, and it is usually much cooler here than in the big cities. We don't have a staff of dozens, just a few of us who know each other well. We handle our own mail and clean our own desks. It is a very hands-on way to run things. Most of the people around here know us as the folks working at the Bhavan. We don’t have a big sign or any advertisements. People just come by when they need something looked at or sorted out. It is an easygoing environment, though we do stay busy with the work. We take our breaks on the porch and watch the rain when it comes. It is a simple life and a simple way to run a business. We just do our best with what we have and keep things moving.
