Our little spot for Saint Gobain Glass India is over in Vimanapura, Bangalore. We are in Flat T3, Bharat Vihar, which is in N R Colony on the 9Th Cross. It’s a residential-feeling area which makes coming to work feel a bit more relaxed than being in one of those huge tech parks where you get lost. We handle the glass business from here, mostly the logistics and sales side of things. Bangalore traffic is always a big topic of conversation in the office, especially when someone is late because of a jam on the way to N R Colony. The office itself is pretty basic. We’ve got our computers, some chairs that have seen better days, and stacks of documents about glass shipments. It’s a bit of a maze to find us if you don’t know the crosses well, but once you’re here, it’s a friendly enough place. We don’t put on any airs about being a big international company; we just focus on the work that needs doing right here in the city. The staff mostly keeps to themselves but we all know where to get the best coffee nearby. We spend a lot of time on the phone or emailing back and forth about different glass types. It’s not exciting stuff to most people, but it’s what we do. We like the quiet vibe of Vimanapura and the way the trees line some of the streets.
