Safety Superviosor

I’m based out of the Mullaveetil House in Kolathara, right near Rahuman Bazar in Calicut. People in this part of Kerala know me as the Safety Supervisor. It’s a job that keeps me on my toes quite a bit. Calicut is a beautiful place, but when you are working on a construction site or in a factory, you have to stay focused on the task at hand. I don’t have a big corporate office or a marketing plan. Most of my work comes from people knowing my name and the kind of work I do. I spend my days checking on workers and making sure the equipment isn't going to fail. It’s a lot of responsibility, especially when things get busy. I like to keep things simple. I talk to the workers in plain language so they understand why the rules are there. It’s not about following a manual just for the sake of it. It’s about staying safe and avoiding injuries. My house is easy to find if you are in the Kolathara area. I’ve lived here a long time, so I know the neighborhood well. Sometimes the rain in Kerala makes the sites really slippery and dangerous. Those are the days I have to be extra careful. I just do my best to keep everyone out of harm's way. It’s honest work and it keeps me busy from morning until evening. I'm just a regular person trying to make the workplace a bit safer.
