People around Shankar Nagar know us mostly because we’ve been at 30, 4th Main for quite a while now. It’s a quiet spot in Mahalaxmi Layout, tucked away from the main traffic noise usually. When you walk into Renuka Prasad & Co, it doesn’t look like some fancy corporate office you see on TV. We’ve got stacks of files on the desks and the ceiling fans hum all day long. My desk is near the window where I can see the neighbors heading out for groceries. Sometimes the morning starts with a bit of a rush, especially when there’s a lot of paperwork to sort through, but mostly we just get on with things. We aren’t trying to be the biggest place in town, just a steady one. The furniture is a bit old, maybe even a little scratched, but it works for what we do here every day. It’s funny how you get used to the specific creaks in the floorboards. Most of us have been working together so long we don’t even need to say much to get the job done. We drink a lot of tea from the place around the corner. By the time evening rolls around, the light hits the street just right through the trees. It’s just a normal day-to-day life at the office, nothing too flashy, just us doing our bit in this part of the city.
