Red Basil Restaurant

Red Basil Restaurant is over at B T M 1st Stage, number 8. It’s a corner spot that gets a good breeze if we leave the front door open. The kitchen has these big industrial burners that make a loud wooshing sound when they’re turned all the way up. We do a lot of takeout orders here because the dining room only fits a few tables comfortably. Most of the people who come in live in the apartments around here, so we see the same faces every week. I started working here as a server, but now I help with whatever needs doing, whether it's chopping vegetables or answering the phone. The phone rings a lot during dinner time, and it can get a bit confusing when we have five orders going at once. We don't have a fancy menu, just the dishes we know how to make well. The walls are painted a simple color and we have a few pictures hanging up that have been there for years. B T M is a busy area, so there’s always noise from the traffic outside, but you get used to it after a while. We keep the napkins stacked and the water pitchers full. It’s not a place for a long, fancy dinner, but it’s good for a quick bite after a long shift. We try to keep the prices fair so the local students can afford to eat here too.
