Our shop is at No. 450 in the 5th Block of Rajaji Nagar, right on the 64th Cross. If you find the Ujjay Showroom, we are just directly across from it on the other side of the street. It’s a busy area and finding a place to park your scooter can be a bit of a challenge sometimes. Inside, we have stacks and stacks of different fabrics piled up on the wooden shelves. There is cotton, silk, and all sorts of other materials in every color you can think of. It can get a bit dusty with all the loose threads and small pieces of cloth around, so we are always sweeping the floor at the end of the day. We spend a lot of time unrolling bolts of fabric to show people the patterns and then rolling them back up again carefully. It’s a lot of lifting and moving heavy things around all day long. We don’t have a fancy interior with bright neon lights; it’s just a practical space where the focus is on the cloth itself. People come in looking for specific colors or textures for their new clothes. Sometimes it’s very quiet and we spend the time organizing the shelves, and other times it’s crowded with everyone trying to look at things at once. We’ve been in Rajaji Nagar for a while now and we like being part of the local market. The 64th Cross has its own busy rhythm and we are just a small part of it.
