PRAKASH ACRYLICS

PRAKASH ACRYLICS is over on Hospital Road, near B.V.K. Iyengar Road in Bangalore. We are at number 33. It’s a very busy part of the city, especially with all the wholesale shops nearby. You can hear the horns honking all day long from our shop. We work with acrylic sheets, cutting them to size and making things out of them. It’s dusty work and there’s always bits of plastic on the floor no matter how much we sweep. Our team is just a few guys who are good with their hands. We don't have a fancy showroom. What you see is what you get. People come in with sketches on scraps of paper and we try to figure out how to make it for them. Sometimes it’s a sign, sometimes it’s a box or a display stand. We don't use a lot of big words or have meetings about "strategy." We just look at the job and get it done. The heat in Bangalore isn't as bad as other places, but when the machines are running, it gets warm in here. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep things lively. We’ve been here quite a while, and most of our business comes from people just walking in or hearing about us from someone else. It’s a simple life, focused on doing the work right and being decent to the people we deal with every day.
