We are located right at Bhashyam Circle. It’s a hectic place with all the buses turning. Our office at 531 is usually full of people coming in to talk about their new builds. We handle a lot of the structural work around this part of town. It’s not just about the bricks and mortar, but also managing the workers and the timelines. Construction is messy. There is always a pile of sand or some steel rods lying around. We have a small team here. Most of us have been together for a long time. We know who is good at masonry and who can do the wiring properly. The phone rings a lot with suppliers asking for payments or clients asking when the slab will be poured. We try to keep the site clean, but it’s a losing battle most days. Sometimes the cement truck arrives at midnight and we have to be there. It’s a lot of physical work. We don’t use those big corporate words. We just talk about what needs doing today. The tea stall across the circle is where we spend our breaks. It’s a simple setup we have here. Just some desks, a few chairs, and a lot of maps on the wall showing the local plots. It gets quite loud with the traffic outside, but we’ve grown used to the noise over the years. We just try to finish the projects we start.
