Pahadia Constructions

Working inside the IISC Campus in Bangalore is a bit different than being out in the main city. We are based over at the New Hostel area, specifically 2S-26. It is a lot quieter here with all the trees and the students walking around, but our day-to-day is still full of dust and heavy lifting. Construction is a messy business. We have piles of sand, bricks, and cement arriving at odd hours. Most of the guys have been doing this for years, so we do not spend much time talking about how to do things; we just get to it. The office is really just a place to keep the blueprints and the site logs. It gets cramped when everyone comes in at once to check the plans or have their tea. We deal with the rain when it comes, which happens a lot in Bangalore, and that usually slows things down. We just wait it out and start again. There is always something being fixed or added to the campus. It is a lot of manual labor and making sure the measurements are right. We are not trying to be the biggest firm out there. We just focus on the project in front of us until it is finished. Sometimes we have to work late to meet a deadline, and the campus looks totally different in the dark. It is just us and the security guards then.
