Narayana Nethralaya

Narayana Nethralaya is tucked away at 19/55 in Sultanpet. We are inside Archna Market, which is right across from the Balaji Complex. If you have ever been to Sultanpet, you know it is one of the busiest market areas you can find. There are always people moving boxes, scooters zig-zagging through the narrow lanes, and lots of shouting. Our place is not very big, just a small unit that we use for our eye-related work. It’s a bit cramped inside because we have a lot of stuff packed into the shelves. We don't have a waiting room with magazines or fancy chairs. It is a very basic setup where we just focus on the task at hand. The market can be overwhelming if you are not used to it, but we have been here so long that it feels like home to us. Finding 19/55 can take a minute because of all the other shops in Archna Market, but the Balaji Complex landmark usually helps people get close enough. We don't use any slick marketing or brochures to tell people who we are. We just open up in the morning and do what needs doing until it’s time to close. It’s a gritty, hardworking environment and we wouldn't have it any other way. The summer heat is probably the hardest part of being in this crowded spot, but the fans keep us going and we get the work done.
